Request account & data deletion
Use this page to understand how to request deletion of your IgboLearn account and personal data, what is removed, what may be retained, and how this affects your subscriptions on Android and iOS.
Last updated: 18 May 2026
1. Who this applies to
This account & data deletion information applies to all IgboLearn users who created an account inside the IgboLearn mobile app on:
- Android devices via Google Play
- iOS devices via the Apple App Store
These instructions also apply if you signed in to IgboLearn using email/password or a third‑party provider that the app supports.
2. How to delete your account in the IgboLearn app
You can request deletion of your account and data directly from within the IgboLearn app. The exact menu labels may evolve as we improve the app, but the current flow is:
- Open the IgboLearn app on your Android or iOS device.
- Go to Profile (person icon) or Account from the bottom or side navigation.
- Select Settings.
- Tap Account.
- Choose Delete account or Request account & data deletion.
- Review the confirmation screen explaining what will be deleted.
- Confirm by tapping Delete account and, if prompted, re‑enter your password or confirm via the platform prompt.
Once confirmed, your deletion request is submitted to our systems and processed as described below.
3. What data will be deleted
When you request account deletion, IgboLearn will delete or irreversibly anonymize the personal data associated with your learning account, including:
- Account profile – your name, display name, email address, avatar, and basic profile settings.
- Learning progress – lessons completed, levels, XP, badges, achievements, and learning history linked to your account.
- Practice data – streaks, scores, puzzle and game history, quiz results, and in‑app practice metrics.
- Saved items – favorites, saved words or phrases, bookmarked lessons, and custom word lists tied to your profile.
- Communication content – chat history with our in‑app AI learning tools and other in‑app messages stored under your account.
- User‑generated content – voice recordings, uploads, or other learning contributions linked specifically to your profile (unless we are required to retain them for safety, security, or legal reasons).
- Device‑linked identifiers that are directly tied to your account profile (where technically feasible to remove without breaking security or fraud prevention controls).
4. What data may be retained and why
Some limited data may be retained even after your account is deleted. This is done only where it is necessary for legal, security, or billing reasons. Examples include:
- Payment and subscription records – receipts, transaction IDs, subscription status, and other billing records kept by Google Play, Apple, or our payment processors for tax, accounting, and regulatory compliance.
- Fraud and abuse prevention data – logs or security‑relevant signals (for example, records related to abuse of free trials, chargebacks, or suspicious activity) that we may retain to protect IgboLearn, our users, and our partners.
- Aggregated or anonymized analytics data – high‑level statistics that are not linked to your identity (for example, total number of completed lessons globally). These cannot be used to identify you.
- Records required by law – where a law, regulation, or legal request requires us to keep specific information for a defined period (for example, tax or financial reporting rules).
Any retained data is stored securely and is only kept for as long as it is legally or operationally necessary.
5. Retention timelines
We aim to handle account deletion requests quickly while respecting legal and technical constraints:
- Account & learning data – your profile, learning progress, practice data, and associated user‑generated content are typically deleted or anonymized immediately or within 30 days of your confirmed deletion request.
- Backups – copies of your data that appear in system backups will be removed as those backups are rotated and overwritten in the normal course of operations, generally within up to 90 days.
- Billing & payment records – payment records that we are legally required to keep for tax and accounting purposes may be retained for up to 7 years, depending on applicable law, and are stored separately from active user profiles.
During the retention window, your account will no longer be accessible in the app once the deletion request is confirmed.
6. What happens to your subscriptions
Deleting your IgboLearn account does not automatically cancel your subscription.
If you subscribed through Google Play or the Apple App Store, those subscriptions are managed by Google and Apple, not IgboLearn. To avoid future charges, you must cancel your subscription separately through your store account:
-
Google Play (Android)
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- Select IgboLearn and tap Cancel subscription, then follow the prompts.
-
Apple App Store (iOS)
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your Apple ID name at the top > Subscriptions.
- Select IgboLearn and tap Cancel subscription, then follow the prompts.
If you need help identifying which store you used or are unsure whether your subscription is active, please contact our support team using the options below before you delete your account.
7. Requesting deletion via support
If you are unable to access the app or cannot see the “Delete account” option, you can also request deletion by contacting us directly.
When you write to us, please include the email address associated with your IgboLearn account and clearly state that you are requesting account and data deletion.
- Use the Support page to submit a request; or
- Email our support team at [email protected].
For security reasons, we may ask you to verify your identity or confirm certain details before processing your request.
